whooooooooa

Hi!

First up is the great news that my international shipment of stuff for the Pink Thing IS IN THE US!! It went through customs yesterday!! The projected delivery date was 8/8-8/22 and 8/22 was pushing it WAY too late so I’m so relieved that it’s here in the states and hopefully will start moving my way later today/tomorrow.
I wouldn’t have had this problem if anybody in the US had carried this particular item in the size I needed. Everything I found in the US was a full 6-10 inches shorter.

We went up to spend the weekend with Mema and Daddy Bob. Headed on up friday after work, had dinner at Red Robin with them. Went to bed early. Saturday we got up and went to IHOP for breakfast. Chase and I did a little running around. Mostly to Target, because I needed Dragoncon necessities: bobbie pins, hair bands, clips, tons of eyelashes… all that stuff that gets lost over time.

And got some new makeup while I was at it; nothing major, some new concealer since mine is really old, new brushes. I also need new foundation/primer/powder and I got some good suggestions over on my facebook, but I didn’t get any of that there. Still shopping around.

Also I got this at Target!!

She’s awesome.

Went to Joann’s and got this:

It was half off and super pretty and it might work for the 4th costume I’m adding. I only got a yard which is more than I need. You can’t tell in the photo but it’s got sequins all over it. Which isn’t really ACCURATE for what I’m going with but I don’t care.

We went to dinner and then hung around in the living room and I doodled (cuz my phone was about to die)

This one is actually from last weekend but I hadn’t taken a photo of it yet.

I also grabbed an older sketchbook to take with me so I wasn’t stuck only doing stuff in the smaller grey sketchbook. The one I grabbed was from 1998 and it was mostly empty except for a few scribbles. The most finished thing in there was this:

SOLIDLY 1998. Jin from Tekken 3.

The only thing I drew in there as a Luna — well, 2 Lunas.

It was supposed to be Luna Lovegood and our cat Luna Lovegood but I didn’t have any decent pics of our Luna to use as a reference. So it didn’t get very far.

And random horse

Sunday we got on up and came on home because Chase needed to work on the scooter. I worked on Leia a little.

I got the outer dress hemmed finally. I got the back panels fixed on the underdress, got the sleeves in.

I’m really not happy with the underdress. The outer dress is ok and I can live with it. But I made some stupid mistakes on the underdress. First mistake was the pattern I used was not right for this. Which caused multiple problems – namely that it is too fitted. I added an extra panel in the back to loosen it up which helped a LITTLE. Then this fabric was a mistake. The colour is nice but it’s TOO thin, flimsy and shiny for this. It’s lined with the original, heavier fabric I messed up dyeing (which ticks me off everytime I see it because it would’ve looked so much better), but it’s not helping with the problem very much. I had to take apart the center seam and stabilize it in and attempt to minimize the “tortured” effect of every seam, it helped a little but not a lot.
I’m considering backing the front of it felt. It won’t fix the shininess or the wrinkling near the seams, but maybe help it look less flimsy.
Either way I’m definitely remaking the underdress after Dcon.

I still have to hem the underdress too. I should be done with everything tonight I think.

After dinner we had to run by Walgreen’s and I discovered the Wonder Woman makeup was half off. There wasn’t a lot left but I got two of the eyeshadow sets for $3.50 each.

Anyway.

Leia and Rey together!

I want to find Jyn next.

Daddy and Catty Bob…

Goals for this week:
Finish up TFA Leia.
Begin work on pink thing’s headpiece
Cut new costume panels cut and put together – fabric arrives Wednesday

I’m off Friday so I’m hoping I can really knock some stuff out.
